Lithuanian designer WINS the prestigious New European Bauhaus Prize

The project “HEMPFORMA”, developed by researcher and designer Viltė Adomavičiūtė – who holds two master’s degrees from the Vilnius Academy of Arts and the Iceland University of the Arts, as well as founder of CANNAMAMA.EU – has won the prestigious global New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prize in the category “Shaping a Circular Industrial Ecosystem and Supporting Life-Cycle Thinking.”

Hempforma proposes the production of research-based, sustainable biocomposite acoustic panels made from locally grown industrial hemp. The product is designed to enhance sound acoustics in interior design while embodying the values of circularity and ecological innovation.

“The project offers a zero-waste, CO₂-reducing alternative to conventional construction and interior finishing materials. The innovation reduces deforestation, strengthens the local agricultural sector, and integrates principles of sustainable design, neuroinclusion, and sensory comfort,” says project initiator Viltė Adomavičiūtė.

Discover the future of sustainable design with hemp fibers, as emphasized by the New European Bauhaus initiative. This innovative study showcases the potential of hemp fibers in acoustic design, enabling the creation of sound-absorbing interior elements, furniture, and more. We can significantly enhance sustainable construction practices by integrating hemp fibers into modern architecture and design. Hemp fibers are renewable and have a low environmental impact, making them an ideal choice for eco-friendly design solutions. Join us in promoting a greener future through the use of these versatile and sustainable materials. Embrace the New European Bauhaus vision and transform your spaces with the natural, sound-absorbing qualities of hemp.
